Bon Secours Pulmonary Rehab works to help those with breathing problems breathe a little easier. Whether you're suffering from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, COPD, or lung cancer, our multidisciplinary team of pulmonologists, occupational therapists, and respiratory specialists focuses on exercise conditioning, strength training, activities of daily living, breathing retraining, education and emotional support for pulmonary patients.

You will receive an individualized treatment plan that is designed around your specific needs. The plan is developed jointly among you and the health care professionals providing your treatment. The pulmonologist (physician who specializes in lung care) serves as the medical director and oversees all patient care from start to finish.

Individuals who receive Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services often have a better quality of life once they have completed treatment. You will be able to do more for yourself, which renews self-confidence and enables you to be more involved in daily activities. You will be able to breathe better, have increased strength and endurance, and decrease your anxiety and/or depression regarding your illness. And best of all, our services are covered under many insurance plans, including Medicare.

Patients who attend pulmonary rehab often see many health benefits including, but not limited to:

Most patients complete treatment within 10 to 15 weeks, with two to three visits occurring per week. Upon discharge, individuals are encouraged to continue their progress by participating in a hospital-sponsored maintenance program and/or individualized home exercise regimen.

how do I qualify?
Admission to Bon Secours Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services requires a referral from a physician. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team will consult with your physician and send progress reports on a regular basis. If a patient does not have a physician but believes our services would be beneficial, our medical director is available for consultation.
