Bon Secours Orthopaedic Institute

orthopaedic patient navigators

Your orthopaedic specialist has recommended surgery. Now, what? At the Bon Secours Orthopaedic Institute, your patient navigator steps in to help you prepare for the big day. Each of our outstanding, highly specialized joint and spine centers has a designated patient navigator.

Patient navigators are expert members of our team of orthopaedic specialists. As patient educators, advocates and resources, they have specialized training and expertise to care for orthopaedic, spine, or joint surgery patients, and their goal is to ensure you receive extraordinary care throughout every stage of your orthopaedic surgery.

Patient navigators can:

  • Facilitate pre-op education about the procedure, recovery, and rehabilitation.
  • Maintain communication with the patient and family during the hospital stay.
  • Answer any and all questions a patient may have.
  • Work closely with case managers to coordinate discharge, medication, and home health needs.

Our patient navigators are registered nurses with specialized training and experience in orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation. They have distinct knowledge of the health system, the doctors who will partner in your care in addition to your unique needs. Once your doctor schedules your surgery, your orthopaedic patient navigator arranges your preoperative education and works closely with your case manager to coordinate home health care and equipment needs.

Your patient navigator stays by your side through every aspect of your hospital care — assisting you with last minute questions and ensuring all discharge orders have been met.
