Clinical trials are research studies that involve people. Research only involves people who choose to participate. Cancer treatment studies may test new drugs or vaccines, or new ways to do surgery or give radiation therapy. Many treatments used today are the results of past clinical trials. Whenever you need treatment for cancer, clinical trials may be an option for you. Taking part in a clinical trial has both possible benefits and possible drawbacks. Choosing to join a clinical trial is something only you, those close to you, and your doctors and nurses can decide together.
