Bon Secours Hampton Roads Announces Opening of Harbour View Medical Arts Building
New Facility Offers Comprehensive, Personalized Care in One Location
Suffolk, Va. (April 23, 2010) – Bon Secours Virginia Health System today announced the grand opening of the expanded Harbour View Medical Arts Building on the campus of Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View in Suffolk, Va. The 20,000 square foot expansion brings a bevy of accessible services to meet the needs of Suffolk’s growing population, which Bon Secours has served for 11 years.
“Over the past 11 years, the Suffolk community has benefited greatly from superior quality and the growing number of services offered by Bon Secours,” said Linda Johnson, Mayor of the City of Suffolk. “The city is grateful for this continued commitment on the part of Bon Secours and looks forward to a new level of personalized health care with the opening of the Harbour View Medical Arts building.”
Services within the facility will provide comprehensive care close to home:
- The Millie Lancaster Women’s Center, which provides the latest in imaging technology, educational resources and wellness programming designed specifically for women.
- Bon Secours’ Surgical Weight Loss Center, which HealthGrades®, a health care ranking organization, has named number one in Virginia for surgical weight loss three years in a row.
- The establishment of the Bon Secours Heart & Vascular Institute at Harbour View, a non-invasive cardiac diagnostic service which includes echocardiology, stress testing, and cardiac nuclear imaging.
- In addition, the Harbour View Medical Arts Center is now home to numerous renowned medical specialists, including Tidewater Surgical Specialists and Cardiovascular Specialists, and Virginia Orthopaedic and Spine Specialists, all part of the Bon Secours Medical Group.
- Other Bon Secours services in the Harbour View Medical Arts building include InMotion Physical Therapy and Sports Performance.
“Bon Secours came to northern Suffolk more than a decade ago,” said Michael Kerner, chief executive officer of Bon Secours Hampton Roads. “Since then, the community has grown, and we are expanding to meet the additional need.”
The health system will celebrate the grand opening with a ribbon cutting on April 29, 2010.
About Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View
Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View opened in May 1999 to meet the medical needs of one of the most rapidly growing segments of Hampton Roads, the Northern Suffolk corridor. With the opening, Bon Secours established medical services in the Harbour View community with a single building of 55,000 square feet with six operating rooms and an imaging department.
Today, Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View is close to 160,000 square feet in multiple buildings with a broad array of healthcare services.
