American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) Accreditation
Both Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center's Sleep Disorders Center have earned accreditation by American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the accreditation organization for sleep centers.
What does this mean for our patients?
Our national clinical practice parameters and policies now align with the AASM standards for accreditation. Everything from our policy and procedure manual and staff credentials to our education and quality assurance measures meets the AASM's high standards.
The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providers
display and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and
policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff
training. The AASM sets strict rules for
centers to follow; the mission of the AASM is to assure the highest
quality of care for those patients who are suffering from sleep
disorders like sleep apnea, narcoplepsy, and restless leg syndrome.
What is the accreditation process?
AASM conducted a site visit to review the application documents and arrived to inspect the Sleep Disorders Center.
